Information on PC Friendly Software

PC Friendly Software:  Many DVD titles out there today are attaching something called PC Friendly Software, which, when you put the DVD into your computer, makes a request for you to install it.  DO NOT INSTALL if you are running on WindowsNT.  PC friendly was created by Interactual that allows users to tap into internet sites that contain information relevant to the DVD titles being played on an IDVD player.  In addition, it allows users to access the html format and content that’s on the DVD with additional fees.  This software is licenced by all major studios.  Unfortunately, this software is incompatible with our software when running on NT systems which will be remedied shortly and a patch will be available via link.  Our recommendation is to not allow installation by using the cancel button when the request comes.  If you have already installed it and now your DVD player does not run, you must uninstall the PC Friendly software and your machine will resume proper function.  If you have problems locating the PC Friendly software to uninstall, you can receive support by going onto the web at www.interactual.com.  You may install this software if you are running Windows 95B, 98, ME or 2000.  On these systems, the software can detect the DirectDVD decoder using the DirectShow portion of Windows.  DirectShow is a standard for the above Windows systems.  If for some reason you are still having problems, it could be that our newer versions were not tested by PC friendly software to be compatible.  Again, uninstallation is suggested until upgrades and/or patches become available.
