SRS audio technology makes everything sound better. Over the last ten years, we have created a large portfolio of audio, voice and surround sound technologies that we license to consumer electronic manufacturers.
Already, over 300 million products, such as televisions, DVD players, mobile phones, computer software, audio/video receivers or portable audio systems, feature one or more of our audio techniques. Many of companies that you know, such as Microsoft, Sony, RCA, Philips, Pioneer, Marantz, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Sharp and Samsung, count on SRS Labs to bring their products to life with the best sounding experience available today.
Our professional audio group manufacturers and develops professional hardware and software tools for the recording, production or broadcast of audio/video material using SRS technology. SRS Labs subsidiary ValenceTech, one of Hong Kong's most respected independent semiconductor design houses, develops and sells technology solutions in the form of custom or standard analog and digital semiconductor products.
The 5.1 Matrix Surround Decoding System
Circle Surround ("CS") is a powerful and versatile multichannel decoder/encoder capable of delivering up to 5.1 channels of audio from any stereo, matrix encoded or Circle Surround encoded material. The first in the Circle Surround family of technologies, CS incorporates superior steering of surround information and remarkable center channel placement, while maintaining full-range bandwidth in each speaker.

With Circle Surround, listeners may now enjoy their 5.1 home entertainment systems
with any stereo source material including music on CDs, television programming, cable broadcasts and movies on VHS. It also decodes any matrix encoded material, providing better performance than older systems such as Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Pro Logic II. Optimal results can be achieved with playback of Circle Surround encoded source material.
Circle Surround is an improved surround sound decoder that offers 5.1 channel audio performance that nearly matches that of digital AC-3 decoders, but can work with any analog stereo source. Unlike the passive matrix surround decoders that are a standard feature in most A/V amplifiers, Circle Surround can produce true stereo in the rear channels with 30dB separation. In addition, the surround channels are capable of full range playback. In some cases, DVD movies decoded by Circle Surround result in better audio quality than that of digital decoders. Besides TV and home theater A/V applications, a Music Mode option is included that produces an even distribution of the audio to all channels, ideally suited to both 5.1 channel audiophile listening and 4.1 channel
car stereo systems with Phantom Center channel. The best results are achieved with a Circle Surround Encoded source, however 5.1 channels of surround information can be derived from all matrix surround encoded material. Circle Surround can be designed for both analog circuits or digital audio systems using DSP's.
